Lost in La Mancha Release Dates and Special Preview Screenings


USA & Canada
Lost in La Mancha has already been presented at film festivals: Telluride (Aug/Sep 2002), Toronto (September) and Doctober (Los Angeles, September). It was also shown at a major Terry Gilliam retrospective in November 2002 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

The film will be released on January 31st 2003, but before that there are a number of regional film festivals coming up between now and the new year.

Europe
Lost in La Mancha played in San Sebastian, Spain on 27 and 28 September.  It will also be coming soon to the Warsaw, Flanders, Bergen and Stockholm Film Festivals.

Theatrical Distribution deals have recently been negotiated and concluded by Jan Rofekamp of Films Transit on behalf of Quixote Films for the following territories... Italy: Mikado, and Switzerland: Frenetic.

Lost in La Mancha has received a nomination for Best Documentary - Prix Arte at the forthcoming European Film Academy Awards which take place in Rome on December 7th 2002.


Asia
Japanese Distributors Cine Qua Non are now officially working on the film where its first outing is likely to be the Tokyo Film Festival.


United Kingdom & Eire
A very successful theatrical release by Optimum Films started on Friday 2 August 2002. Upon release in the UK, directors Keith Fulton and Louis Pepe, and producer Lucy Darwin appeared at many screenings of the film around the country. All of these special preview screenings have now taken place.

Lost In La Mancha received critical acclaim and a number five place in the Screen International listing of the top ten UK theatrical documentaries of the past twelve years. Current box office stands at $324,000 (US) and the film continues to play in regional venues as well as in London.

Lost in La Mancha has recently been nominated in the British Independent Film Awards, the ceremony takes place on October 30th in London.

Dendy Films is to distribute Lost in La Mancha in Australia and New Zealand.


Festival Screenings

Lost in La Mancha has been selected and shown in many International Festivals, including; Berlin (WORLD PREMIERE), Sydney, Montone (Umbria) Karlovy Vary, Jerusalem, EuropaCinema (Viareggio), San Sebastian, Warsaw, Flanders and Titanic, Hungary. It will shortly be presented at Bergen, Stockholm and at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam in the Reflecting Images programme.
